New York Fashion Week's 'Prosthetic Girl'
2019-09-17 Hits:Recently, a girl has attracted a lot of people's attention and touched many people from Birmingham, UK.
Daisy May Demetre, eight years old, made her first international appearance at New York Fashion Week on September 8th, and when the crowd applauded her swift performance, it was shocking to discover that who is walking a luxury children's fashion line, is a double amputee model.
Daisy was born with a fibula subluxation, missing part or all of the fibulas in her lower legs.
This meant she had to undergo two amputations at 18 months, but her subsequent recovery was not smooth.
Daisy's parents were very sad. After consulting the advice of various doctors, Daisy and her parents had to accept "prosthetic limbs" for the convenience of life and travel.
Fortunately, as Daisy grew up, she did not feel inferior and sad about her birth defect. Instead, she liked jumping, running and even learned to ride a bicycle like a normal child.
By chance, Daisy's father heard that a company was going to hold a "disabled model" project, so he brought Daisy to try. After many rounds of selection, she became a model at the age of 7 and got the chance to be in a fashion brand.
After that, Daisy gradually fell in love with the stage.
Before New York Fashion Week, Daisy had been working in the modeling industry for 18 months and had shot in the UK for Nike, River Island and several other brands. She was even named a 'Child of Courage' at the Birmingham Awards.
Daisy has also represented Lulu et Gigi at London Children's Fashion Week. Lulu et Gigi was founded five years ago by designer Eni Hegedus-Buiron to make French-inspired children's clothes.
"We believe beauty comes first, it comes from within, and our clothing is designed to enhance the uniqueness of each child, making Daisy May Demeter a unique choice.
"Said the designer.
In addition, Daisy's father, Alex Demeter, encouraged Daisy to pursue her dreams.
"She inspired me by showing me who she was, whether it was dancing, singing, she was a very special little girl.
I couldn't be prouder of him.'said Alex.
Little Daisy's story reminds us of another legendary woman, Amy.
She is not only an excellent sprinter, but also a model, actress and activist.
In 1996, she took part in the Atlanta Paralympics and set two world records: women's 100m run and women's long jump, which won a lot of warm applause at that time.
Beauty comes from within.
Confident, strong and loving, these are the precious qualities Daisy and Amy share.
May all beauty be valued.
